Purpose
This knowledge base explains how to enable extra / enhanced logging on the Seclore Desktop Client (DC) when the existing DC logs are not detailed enough to identify the root cause (RC) of an issue.
This procedure is typically used during advanced troubleshooting, especially for:
- DC sign‑in issues
- Unexpected client behaviour
- Issues that cannot be diagnosed using standard logs
Scope
- Seclore Desktop Client (DC)
- Applicable specifically when requested by Support or Engineering
⚠️ Note: Extra logging is enabled using a special build of FSDCTray.exe and should only be used for troubleshooting. It must be reverted after analysis.
Prerequisites
- Administrative access on the user machine
- Correct customer URL available
- Access to the internal Seclore build location in Seclore-FS1.
Procedure to Enable Extra Logging on DC
Step 1: Install Seclore Desktop Client
Install Seclore Desktop Client version 3.21.2 on the affected machine.
Update the DC URL to the customer’s Seclore URL using the Policy Server (PS) URL changer script.
Step 2: Replace FSDCTray.exe with Extra Logging Build
Navigate to the Desktop Client installation directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Seclore\FileSecure\Desktop Client
- Locate the file:
FSDCTray.exe
- Take a backup of the existing file. (Mandatory)
- Copy the enhanced‑logging version of
FSDCTray.exefrom the following path:\\seclore-fs1\seclore\distribution\FileSecure 2.X\Unpublished\TestBuilds\FD#92082
Paste the copied
FSDCTray.exeinto the DC installation directory, replacing the original file.
Important Notes
- This method enables additional internal logging beyond what is captured by default DC logs.
- Use this approach only when standard logs are insufficient to determine the root cause.
- After troubleshooting is complete:
- Restore the original
FSDCTray.exe, if not DC won't be able to upgrade.
- Restore the original
